Junior Star Breaks Amateur Course Record at Numark British Par 3 Championship.
Aaron Rai, who is just 13 years old and playing off an handicap of 5, socked everyone at the Celebrity-Amateur Golf Day on the 7th August at the 2008 Numark British Par 3 Championship.
Playing in the Nailcote Hall team, Aaron produced a stunning display on the front 9 of the Cromwell Course notching 3 birdies and 6 pars for a fabulous new course record for an amateur of just 24 strokes, 3 under par. This was achieved following a practise round on the Sunday prior to the Celeb-Am when Tony Jacklin commented, “He has got it all going for him in the future.”The winner of the celebrity prize on Thursday 7th August was former Manchester United player Clayton Blackmore, who beat former England cricket captain Brian Close on a count back - the 2 tied on 39 points. Nevertheless, Brian’s team Pro-Dm put one over on Clayton’s team, G T Pearson, by scoring 84 points to win the team event by 3 points
