40th Anniversary Open Champion Celebrity-Amateur Challenge: Tuesday 5th August
On Tuesday 4th August a sensational Celebrity-Amateur Challenge will take place, celebrating 40 years since Tony Jacklin CBE was crowned British Open Champion at Royal Lytham.
At this sensational golf day, teams of 3 amateur golfers will be paired with a celebrity personality and enjoy 18 holes of golf on the Cromwell course.
Tony Jacklin will host this wonderful day, being held as a tribute to Tony becoming a national hero in 1969 when he became the first British player to win the British Open since Max Faulkner in 1951.
Max was a life long supporter of the British Par 3 Championship so it is very fitting that we are hosting this very special golf day as part of the 2009 Championship celebrations.
“Your short game is the sharp end of the business. You’ve always got to do the fiddly bits well and that’s where all the pressure is” Tony Jacklin CBE
